Self-Service Computer Access

The library has an electronic reading area at both campuses, available for free use by readers. Readers can select an available computer and log in to use it. All computers in the electronic reading area are managed through the seat reservation system. After reserving a computer seat online, readers can use the computer. The specific rules and methods are as follows:

1. Computer Reservation Process:
Readers should log in to the library's seat reservation system (accessible within the campus network) and click on [Electronic Reading Area]. After selecting a computer seat number, readers can make a reservation. The login username is the campus network main account and password.

2. Reservation Limits:
Each reader can make a maximum of 1 reservation per day, with each session lasting no more than 4 hours. After entering the library, the reader should swipe their card/scan the QR code/use facial recognition to check in at the reservation machine (no need to select a specific computer). Alternatively, the reader can choose a computer on-site.

3. Temporary Leave from the Library:
If a reader temporarily leaves the library, they should select “Temporary Leave” on the reservation machine and swipe their card. The computer will be reserved for 60 minutes. When the reader returns, they can swipe their card to enter the library and continue using the same computer. If the reader does not return and swipe their card within 60 minutes, the system will automatically release the computer for others to use, and a “violation” will be recorded. If a reader wishes to exit the computer, they should select "Sign Out" and swipe their card to release the seat for others. If the reader only needs to leave the computer but stay in the library, no card swipe is required.

4. Seat Availability for Non-Reserved Seats:
Readers who have not reserved a computer or whose reserved computer seat is no longer valid should vacate the seat for readers with a valid reservation. If a reader finds that their selected computer is being used by someone else, they have the right to ask the other reader to vacate the seat. If the issue cannot be resolved through negotiation, the reader can seek help from library staff.

5. Personal Data Security:
Due to the automatic restoration system installed on the electronic reading area computers, all personal data will be erased when the computer is turned off or restarted. Therefore, readers should not save personal data on the computer and should remember to save or back up their work periodically.

6. Computer Usage Rules:
The electronic reading area computers are for computer access only. Readers are not allowed to study or use their own devices in this area. Any action involving unplugging or connecting devices, such as power cables or network cables, will be recorded as a violation. After 3 violations, access to the library will be suspended for 7 days.
