JoVE (Journal of Visualized Experiments) is the world's first peer-reviewed scientific video journal, launched in October 2006. It is dedicated to presenting biological, medical, chemical, and physical research processes and results through video demonstrations. As the first 100% peer-reviewed video database, it is indexed in PubMed/MEDLINE, SCI, Scopus, ChemAbstracts, and SciFinder.
In 2023, JoVE offers 13 subject sections with nearly 18,000+ experimental videos and 16,000+ accompanying articles, covering biology, medicine, physics, chemistry, environmental science, and more. The life science videos are particularly valued by researchers and academics. Video content is contributed by leading institutions such as Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Yale, UC Berkeley, and Columbia.
JoVE’s unique strength lies in its use of video to make complex experimental techniques and procedures clear and accessible—far beyond text and static images.
The journal is published monthly, with approximately 70 new videos (each with an article) per issue. The archive dates back to 2006, with daily updates to ensure users access the latest experimental results and research trends.
