Essential Science Indicators (ESI) is an analytical research tool built on Web of Science data. It identifies influential researchers, institutions, papers, journals, and countries within specific fields, as well as emerging research fronts that may affect your work. ESI supports long-term, quantitative assessment of research performance and trends. Based on publication counts and citation data, ESI provides performance statistics and trend rankings across 22 subject fields for institutions, countries, and journals.

ESI is interlinked with InCites and the Web of Science Core Collection, presenting data in clear visualizations and allowing users to create, save, and export reports with ease.
