Reader Regulations

1. Readers shall consciously maintain public order and a good reading environment within the library and shall not disturb others.

·Consciously maintain the library environment; littering is prohibited.

· Smoking and consuming food or drinks are strictly prohibited. Readers are strictly forbidden from bringing items with strong odors or any solid food into the library.

· Maintain quietness; no loud noise or conversation is allowed in the library. Mobile phones and other communication devices brought into the library must be set to silent mode or turned off. Answering calls must be done outside the reading areas, in stairwells. Use headphones when playing audio or video media to avoid disturbing the library's quiet atmosphere.

· Seat reservation and sleeping in the library are not permitted. All personal belongings must be taken when leaving the library.

· Conduct oneself in a civilized and appropriate manner; avoid indecent behavior or actions contrary to social ethics.

· Large items are not allowed in the library. Pets are not permitted.

 

2. Readers shall properly care for and use all library collections and equipment.

· Marking, annotating, defacing, folding corners, disbinding books/journals, or any action causing damage to collections or equipment is prohibited. Compensation for damage is required.

· Unauthorized unplugging or connecting of power cords, network cables, or other equipment is prohibited. The use of powered electrical devices other than laptops, tablets, and mobile phones is not allowed. Compensation is required for any damage to library property resulting from improper use.

· Library computers and personal computers brought by readers are to be used only for study and accessing literature/information. They shall not be used for playing games or browsing websites containing violence, indecency, or pornography.

· All library collections must be properly checked out before being removed from the library.

 

3. Readers shall consciously return borrowed materials on time. A late fee of RMB 0.1 per item per day will be charged for overdue materials. Readers must return all borrowed items and settle any outstanding fines before leaving the university. Failure to do so may affect the issuance of relevant certificates and documents.

 

4. Readers shall consciously cooperate with the management of library staff and security personnel. Readers who violate regulations and refuse to cooperate with library staff's warnings or handling may have their name and campus card number recorded. Depending on the severity of the violation, library privileges may be suspended for 10 to 30 days or longer.
